The Race

The Boston Marathon is one of the most prestigious marathons in the world and a cornerstone of the Abbott World Marathon Majors. Established in 1897, it’s the oldest annual marathon and attracts elite runners and dedicated amateurs from across the globe. The iconic course starts in Hopkinton and takes you through picturesque New England towns before culminating in the heart of Boston. Known for its challenging terrain and legendary Heartbreak Hill, the Boston Marathon is a true test of endurance and determination.

From the historic Freedom Trail to the vibrant neighborhoods of Back Bay and Beacon Hill, Boston offers a mix of American history, modern charm, and world-class dining. The marathon itself is a celebration, with thousands of spectators lining the course, creating an electric atmosphere.

What You Can Expect

Morning

Guided shakeout run along the Charles River.
